Kal uses design to uncover new ways to address tough social and business challenges. He leads Tandemic, a regional social innovation and design thinking firm. He also teaches Design Across Borders at Stanford’s d.school.
Through his work, Kal has helped design new interventions for challenges ranging from diabetes prevention to improving quality of education for undocumented youth with organisations such as UNICEF, Standard Chartered, Novo Nordisk, and the Prime Minister’s Office (Malaysia). He also conceptualised and helped launch Malaysia’s first collective impact initiative.
Kal and Tandemic are currently supporting the UNDP Executive Office in rolling out 60 Accelerator Labs to 78 countries, creating the world’s largest learning network around development challenges.
Kal is also the author of the Social Business Model Canvas, which is used in over 80 countries and taught at universities such as Oxford and Georgetown University.
